«Genius at work» Rodin

For all the Auguste Rodin lovers, you could find an incredible collection of his artwork in the Groninger Museum until the next 30th April 2017.

Without any doubt, this exposition show you the efficiency of Rodin’s methods of reproduction and edition. Through experimental practices whom are complicated to understand even today, this exposition presents different sculpture techniques such as assemblages or fragmentation. Also, you could see experimental photographs of his sculptures and dynamics drawings of human bodies.

I would like to describe you what impressed me the most whereas I was contemplating the Rodin’s works. First of all, the direct influence of Michelangelo work in his marble carving, both create bodies whom seem to emerge from the original stone and some sculptures seems have amputated their limbs. Also, the unworked material provides him the opportunity of generate the pedestal for the sculpture itself.

Finally, I will conclude this post telling you what is my impression of Rodin’s nature. For me Rodin was the most bright artist entrepreneur of his period. He achieve to establish a large company of sculptural creation. But, the fact that we don’t have any information of his creation process, suggest me that Rodin could intentionally avoid leaving key information to the followings generations.

Even with all the documents, you can never forge the nature -Auguste Rodin-
