TEDxMalagueta 2018

In the last month, I had the opportunity to participate in the TEDxMalagueta event of this year. I was in charge of the set design and the stage management, therefore I was completely involved in the development and realization of the show. Thanks to those responsibilities, I am much more aware of what I am capable now and in turn, I have learned a lot from the others fields involved in the event.

TED events have the power to convey ideas and personal experiences to the audience. In order to open our eyes to a number of issues and situations with which we could feel identify to some extent. TEDxMalagueta supposes the perfect opportunity to implement what scenography means for me: one form of expression that serves as vehicle to transport the audience to remarkable situations.

As scenographer, my aim was to support the slogan of the event: Imagine, Involve and Inspire. For that reason, I designed a large panel that takes up all the proscenium arch, where a large geometrical brain was turned on and off. Besides, there was some performances about a “theft of ideas” during the show. Those planned incidents happened when the two actors were literally going to sleep on top of the scenario. Therefore, I created a soft balls bed that worked as a bed as well as a sofa, where actors, presenters and speakers could lay on during all the show. This element was one of the main decorative elements and a functional piece of furniture.
