Don Juan Tenorio

The environment that we propose for this project is theatrical. My group had attempted to make a route towards the stage box of the theatre. Thus, the visitor will be able to see an exhibition and feel a new sensorial experience through the design exhibition. In this way, visitors can see the inside of the stage box which they don’t usually have access to enter.

We generate a space divided in five rooms: house (auditorium), stage (playing area), stage right wing, stage left wing and upstage. Furthermore, we choose different exhibition techniques, lighting systems and sensorial experience for each room. So, the visitor can learn and feel the Don Juan’s story while strolling along the museum space.

The tour is lineal, that means that the visitor has just one entry and one exit. We had proposed this route because, that makes it easier to follow the Don Juan’s story from the beginning to the end. Besides, the visitor’s perceptive and interactive intensity is increasing along his way through the exhibition. We achieve this visitor’s interest with a traditional exhibition at the beginning and with a sensorial installation at the end.

Then, I am going to briefly describe some of the most interesting parts of this design exhibition.

First of all, the visitor enters to the auditorium room in which he can take a sit and enjoy the view of the stage through a huge transparent curtain screen. This element also permits to project images of Don Juan’s stories and split the space into two separate rooms.

The main room is the playing area that is occupied by the traditional costumes’ exhibit. So, the visitor will be able to feel part of a theatre play and identify with one of the Don Juan Tenorio’s characters.

Finally, we create a sensorial installation using the theatre’s hemp ropes in the last room. We forced the visitor to use his sensorial capacities avoiding the sight, being the only way to move through this darkened environment. He could find some sounds, smells and tactile sensations related with the Don Juan’s period.
